How can I upload my website ?
Once you or your designers have created your website, you'll need to upload it to a webserver for the world to see.
Depending on the platform your site is hosted on and the tools used to create it, you will use one of two slightly different methods.
Uploading files to your webspace using an FTP client
While it is likely that you already have an text ftp client on your machine, Exa Networks recommends that you download a graphical client to aid in the syncronisation and management of the local and remote copies of your website.
A record pointing to your webspace will be created within your domain during initial setup, so you need only point your client to ftp.<your domain> and enter your authentication details . Your username and password will have been given to you by your sales contact after you placed the order for your domain.
Windows' Frontpage Extensions
Frontpage FTP Warning
It is important that you do not try to upload files using an ftp client in the case that you have requested that frontpage extensions be enabled for your site. Doing so will likely cause corruption of the extensions, leading to components of your site functioning either incorrectly or not at all.
Publishing your site with Frontpage
Once you have completed development of the site on the local machine, click on file -> publish web from within Frontpage to begin the transfer process. Enter, when promted for the domain name, the domain name that you wish the site be published to (the domain that will be used to access it). Your username and passwrod have been given to you by your sales contact: in the event that you forget either of these, you can contact any member of our sales team to retrieve them. Upon sucessful authentication, the file transfer will begin.
