What should I do to stop receiving SPAM ?

Exa Networks recognise that SPAM is one of the biggest problem of the internet and is actively working to help its customer to get spam free email.

For ESA users

If you have a domain hosted with Exa and are using ESA (Email Self Admin) then activating spam filtering is very simple.
Creating a mailbox within your domain called "spam" e.g. spam@some.domain will activate our automatic filtering.

From then on, all email for your domain that we classify as spam will be filtered into this spam mailbox.

For our IMAP users, all spam delivery will then be attempted in the user local "Junk" folder. This folder is automatically created by several mail client, including Thunderbird.

Should a user not be using IMAP or not have this folder, all spam emails will then be delivered to the spam@some.domain user.

We advise that you check the contents of this mailbox regularly as no filtering is 100% accurate and there may be some false positives. As well, all email received through the "catchall" option will be filtered there.

For all users

Exa Networks is already checking email for spam characteritics. However, we will never take the decision to delete email or your behalf. However we are marking the headers of the email with a special line you can use to recognise spam email with software such as Outlook (but not Outlook Express).

The line will start with
X-Spam-Status: Yes

You can also use mail software such as Thunderbird with builtin anti-spam features.
MTA like Thunderbird are able to use statistical information to differenciate spam from legitimate emails and can be configured to move these email in the "Deleted Item" folder automaticaly (or any other folder).
