DNS Control Panel
The Exa Networks DNS administration panel gives you an easy way to administer your domain names.
With the aid of our simple to use control panel you can update web and mail records and have the results reflected on our DNS servers within minutes.
login
Before you can use the DNS panel at you will need to request a username and password that can be used to authenticate you and give access to you domains.
Once logged in, click on one of the characters presented towards the top of the page to see a list of your domain names which begin with that character. The search box on the left hand of the page allows you to further refine a search if you wish - simply type a part of the domain you want to edit and it will give you a list of each match. An asterisk (*) can be used as a wildcard to match 1 or more characters.
Host entries
Clicking on a domain name will give you a list of all the currently defined hostnames. To point a hostname to a new location, replace the text in the destination field and click on the submit button. You can, in the same fashion, update the text in a host field to rename a dns record.
The add new button will create a new blank entry for you to create a new host record
Clicking on the mail tab on the left of the panel will update the display to show you the mx records for you domain. New records can be created and mx priorities altered in the same way you administer host entries
Domain tab
DNS updates are never instant and can take hours to propogate across the internet. You can use this tab to alter the ttl for your domain in case you are planning a change that you want to be seen as quickly as possible
SPF
SPF allows you to declare the servers that you will use to send through and allows remote mail servers to determine if they should accept or reject mail that appears to come from your domain. Having mail blocked by SPF can dramatically reduce the number of 'bounce' and complaint messages coming to your email account if a spammer is forging your address. OUr panel allows you to choose from a preconfigured or custom SPF record, depending on your needs.
