Stale Sessions

If you see the BT ADSL page when trying to web browse the chances are you have a "stale session". A stale session is caused by you being disconnected from BT's network incorrectly.

To fix this problem you will either have to log onto your adsl router or contact our support department.

To try and fix this yourself follow the instructions below.

Go to the admin page of your adsl router, via a your web browser.

This usually takes the form of http://192.168.1.100 (this can be a number of ip ranges depending on your make of router.)

You can find out the ip of your router by opening a command prompt (start menu, "run" then type "cmd" and hit return.) Once you have a command prompt type in the box "ipconfig /all" look through the results till you find your gateway ip address this will normally be your adsl router.

Put this in the address bar of your web browser (not forgetting to add http:// before the the ip address and you will be prompted for your adsl router's admin user and password.

Once you are in the admin section of your router look for the section where you specify your username and password to connect to our network.

Change the password to something different to what you have at the moment (ie something incorrect.) Save the changes and reboot the router. This will force your router to try and connect to the BT network and remove your stale session.

Go back into the admin section of your router and change the password to your real password and reboot the router.

This will hopefully reconnect you to our network.

If this fails you will need to contact our support department as there maybe a more serious issue with your adsl or exchange - call 0845 145 1234.
