At Risk: Bingley POP (02/02/2012 21:00 - 03/02/2012 05:00)

Emergency engineering work to repair a multicore fibre cable will be performed by one of our fibre providers tonight (02/02/2012) from 21:00 until 05:00. This will affect one of the diverse links from our Bingley POP into our Leeds POP. Traffic will be gracefully moved over to the remaining link at 17:00 in anticipation of disruption (link flaps) during the night. Once we get the all-clear we will re-instate the affected link. Customer will not experience any loss of packet forwarding but the network will be considered "at risk" during this period due to the lack of redundancy.

Emergency Maintenance - LLU DSL / 3G Aggregation

On the evening of 30/01/2012 from midnight until 1am we will performing preventative maintenance on our London L2TP aggregation platform. This is to resolve a memory leak affecting some of the LNS routers. During this period some customers will experience one short (1-2 minute) drop on their PPP session.

Cottingley POP

Our engineers will be performing power maintenance in our Cottingley POP at 23:00 this Friday evening (04/11).

There will be a power outage of approximately 2 minutes which will impact all services hosted at the site. Any customers with leased lines coming into Cottingley who do not have dsl backup will experience a loss of service during this period

Surfprotect

We will be performing work this evening (26/10) to upgrade the master database for surfprotect.

There will be no impact on web traffic but the surfprotect control panel will be unavailable during the upgrade. We will disable the panel at 19:00 and expect the work to take around 1/2 hour

Mail Filestore 2

Following the recent hardware upgrade on our Mail Filestores, there has been an issue with the stability of the new hardware on which Filestore2 is based.

We currently suspect that an old firmware version on the RAID interface might be responsible, and will be performing an upgrade within 48 hours. This will be done out-of-hours, and will result in customers whose mail is hosted on FS2 to be unable to connect to their mail for a short period.

Manchester core switch

Our engineers will be performing emergency maintenance today (24/10) to replace a faulty switch in our core network.

The problem is service affecting and cannot be delayed, but customers may notice some short disruption to service while the hardware is replaced.

LINX routing platform migration

During two nights 19/20 and 21/22 October London Internet Exchange (LINX) will be performing platform migration maintenance. During this time LINX will change core routing platform and there may be a number of small interruptions to IP routing.

Surfprotect

Our engineers will be performing updates to surfprotect tomorrow evening (18/10/11). The surfprotect control panel will be unavailable during the work and customers may notice a small service disruption lasting no more than 5 minutes

VoIP

OS Upgrades

Our engineers will be performing upgrades to machines hosting customers services after 18:00 this evening.

The machines to be upgraded host a range of services, including web and mail. No service outages are expected

OS upgrades to Unixweb1, FS1, FS3

On the evening of 28th July, we will be carrying out OS upgrades on the above servers. Access to websites hosted on Unixweb1, and email domains hosted on filestores 1 and 3 will be temporarily interrupted while reboots and disk checks take place.

Migration of broadband platform

Over the next couple of months we will be slowly migrating from our existing broadband platform to a new one.

From our perspective there will be no tangible changes; this is simply Exa getting ready to provide new services in the future, that only the new platform would allow. You will have no need to change usernames/passwords, IP addresses, VPI/VCI or anything else on your router or PC.

The only aspect that you need to be aware of is that on changeover date, you could encounter a short outage on your broadband connection while the new connection is negotiated; this should in most cases only be a matter of a few minutes.

Manchester Core Maintenance

On Wednesday 10/11/2010 from 20:00 until 00:00 we will be performing maintenance on the Manchester Core Network. This work is required to expand the power distribution units in one of our core networking cabinets.

For a short period of time there will be service disruption to email access, Unixweb1, Winweb2, MySQL and SurfProtect. Incoming email will queued, and delivered to customer mailboxes when service is resumed.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused, and hope to keep this service disruption to the minimum required to perform the maintenance.

Leeds/Bradford Core Maintenance

On Sunday 10/10/2010 from 22:00 until 00:00 we will be performing maintenance on the Leeds/Bradford core network. This work is required to bring new equipment into service. During this time there may be a number of small interruptions to IP routing as routing tables converge. We aim to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.

PHP/security updates to Unixweb-2

On Friday the 23rd of July, we will be performing routine security updates and software maintenance on our shared Web Hosting platform Unixweb-2.

As part of the updates, the installed version of PHP will be upgraded from version 5.2.11 to version 5.2.13.

Whilst this is a minor revision change, we would advise that customers using PHP scripting on Unixweb-2 should review their scripts to ensure compatibility with version 5.2.13.

Winweb-1 maintenance

On the afternoon of Saturday 10th July we will be performing hardware maintenance on our Winweb-1 server. This work is scheduled to take place between 3pm and 6pm.

Customers using this server will experience a brief period during which their web sites will be offline. We will be attempting to keep downtime to a minimum, and expect the work to take no longer than 30 minutes.

Mail Filestore

We will be performing maintenance tonight at around 7:30 to reintroduce the missing filestore into our mail cluster now that the faulty hardware has been replaced.

The work is expected to last no more than 2 hours. Some customers will notice interruptions in POP and IMAP service during this window
